Changes to Online Medicaid Portal Starting January 1 The New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services has implemented new changes to its online portal to apply for all Medicaid programs. As of January 1, 2020, anyone needing to apply for Medicaid should apply directly to NJ Family Care . This new portal will allow participants to complete their Medicaid application online and upload required documents via smartphone, tablet or PC. Participants can easily check on the status of their Medicaid application online as well as receive electronic notifications. To utilize this portal, participants must be able to provide an email address at the time of application. It is estimated that the application can be completed in 10 minutes. Although participants can still visit our local offices to complete their Medicaid application, we encourage participants to utilize the new portal as it should result in a quicker processing of your case. Morris County Urges Residents to Report Social Security Phone Scams The Morris County Department of Human Services is urging county residents to take advantage of a new dedicated online form set up by the federal government at https://oig.ssa.gov to report Social Security-related scams. These scams, in which fraudulent callers mislead victims into making cash or gift card payments to avoid arrest for purported Social Security number problems, skyrocketed over the past year to become the number one type of fraud reported to the Federal Trade Commission and the Social Security Administration. NJSave allows individuals to use a single online application to check their eligibility for various savings and assistance programs, such as Medicare Savings Programs, which help eligible individuals pay their Medicare premiums and copays; New Jersey’s Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD), which helps save money on prescription drug costs; and the Lifeline Utility Assistance Program. Every four years, each county in NJ prepares a County Comprehensive Plan (CCP) for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Support Services. The purpose of the CCP is to identify needs and gaps within the service system in order to allocate resources and develop service priorities and programs to address those needs. Fill out our survey to let us know where gaps in treatment are. The results of the survey will be compiled and summarized by county staff in the development of the CCP. Morris County ID Card Program A partnership of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the Morris County Department of Human Services We provide Morris County Identification Cards for Morris County residents ages 18 – 54 who may not have a driver’s license or just want another form of identification.
